What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't help?
That's completely okay—and more common than you think. Every therapist has a different style, and sometimes it takes time to find the right fit. I believe in a collaborative approach, with regular check-ins about what's working and what's not. You're never stuck; if it seems like another therapist or another approach might serve you better, I can provide referrals to help you find the right match. Therapy should feel supportive, not forced.
What if I don't know what to talk about in session?
You don't need to come in with a plan! Some weeks might feel full of things to unpack while others feel quiet. I'll help guide our conversations based on what feels most relevant at the moment, or we can explore themes that come up naturally. There's no "wrong" way to do therapy.
What if my internet drops or there's a tech issue during our session?
Technology hiccups happen! If we lose our connection, I will reach out right away to figure out how to best proceed, whether that is continuing by phone or rescheduling.
Can I do sessions from my car or another non-home location?
In theory, yes. I do not have specific requirements for where you do sessions, my only request is that you are in a private space. At a park with headphones in? Sure. In the middle of a cafe with your laptop on full volume? Maybe not.
How do you decide what we'll focus on in therapy?
That is a collaborative process! In one of our first sessions, we will talk about what brought you here and what you'd like to get out of therapy. From there, we will create goals to be tracked across your treatment. Goals can evolve over time—therapy shifts as you do.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask that clients provide at least 2 hours notice if they need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice or missed appointments without notice may result in a cancellation fee. I understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, and I try my best to be understanding and flexible when possible!
How do you approach anti-racist and anti-oppressive work in your practice?
My work is grounded in a commitment to creating a space that acknowledges and challenges systems of oppression. I continuously engage in self-reflection, education, and consultation to recognize how my own perspectives and privileges impact the therapeutic process. I strive to honor each client’s lived experience, support equity and inclusion, and ensure that therapy is a space where clients feel respected, heard, and empowered.
